Cory is an experienced learning and leadership development executive with over 20 years’ experience across multiple industries. In his role, he works as an executive coach, a physician leadership and well-being coach, and certified team and group coach. He was named one of Nashville’s top 20 coaches for 2021, and now lives in Roanoke. Cory is focused on helping leaders and teams succeed, regaining joy by aligning passion and purpose to meaningful work.
Professional/Business Experience
Prior to joining LAK Group, Cory was Executive Director of Learning and Development for Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC), leading a team of 90 centralized professionals accountable for leader development, professional development, all onboarding programs, operational and role-specific learning, engagement, recognition, performance management, internal leader coaching practice, and culture. Cory partnered with patient experience and executive committees to deploy a new initiative to 25,000 employees, including physicians, to refresh the culture of service at VUMC. Cory was also involved with physician leadership programs and has been the learning lead for mergers and acquisitions both inside and outside healthcare, most recently supporting the acquisition of community hospitals into the main academic medical system.
Cory’s has supported clients who have successfully achieved: transition into new executive roles, improved leadership effectiveness and presence, aligning passion and values to leadership style, leadership courage and finesse, strategy, and physician well-being.
Cory achieved a Master of Music from Georgia State University and a BS in Marketing and International Business from Penn State. Cory is an ICF accredited coach, Board Certified coach, certified team coach, and trained in advanced coaching practice through The Healthcare Coaching Institute.
